My mum made me put a facemask in my bag. I told her that it is not necessary but she insisted. She even wrote a big '口' on the envelope so that I will see it and remember to wear it.

Man I love her...

Random thoughts about myself...

Apr. 7th, 2009 | 03:51 pm
location: Office
mood: okay okay

When some of my friends log off from MSN, there are occasionally some spams that will pop up at the end of it. You can choose to ignore it or be a little ichy hand and click on the obviously pseudo web links which are more often than not (DUH) web-pages containing viruses that will infiltrate your PC.

Those pop-up messages get a little annoying sometimes. But I let it go because I know that my friends have no clue about it. Although somebody could had told them. But it seems so trivial that it does not warrant the effort to inform your friends. You might want to avoid a reply like, "Tell me for what?".  Although if something was done about it, the less irate caused, as minute as it can be, could had made this world a better place. I have a tolerance level that is a stratosphere higher than most individuals. Most of the time it does not really bother me.

But then again, I wonder if I have log-off-pseudo-pop-ups or not...

Would my friends tell me if I do?

I stood in the dark,
body leaning against the kitchen window,
looking out.
The only light,
aglow from the stick in my hand.
The neighboring blocks was almost too bright.
I  took a puff,
I sighed.
Looks like there will not be
1 billion votes afterall.
I took another puff
and I sighed again.
I am not alone,
yet I feel alone.

Modern Day Parable

Dec. 22nd, 2008 | 11:24 am
mood: amused amused

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 7 people steering and 2 people rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order; American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 2 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 2 people rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rowers. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The pension program was trimmed to 'equal the competition' and some of the resultant savings were channeled into morale boosting programs and teamwork posters.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid-off one rower, halted development of a new canoe, sold all the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses.

The next year, try as he might, the lone designated rower was unable to even finish the race (having no paddles,) so he was laid off for unacceptable performance, all canoe equipment was sold and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India .

Sadly, the End.

Here's something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads, and collecting bonuses...

IF THIS WEREN'T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY

We have heard of quotes on tv shows that describes painful situation one would rather be in than to show up for a dreaded blind date or to do a favor for an abominable enemy.

Some examples are;

I would rather sink my hand into a peanut butter jar of barb-wires filled with salt water...
or, I would rather swallow a mug of leeches and bleed to death from the inside out...

Just for fun's sake. And also to see how creative we all can get...

Quote away~

Food Poisoning

Aug. 1st, 2008 | 02:52 pm
location: Lee's Home
mood: drained drained

I have never gotten food poisoning before until yesterday. But now that I have, I must say that the suffering was beyond what I had imagined.

My guess was the soft-boil eggs I had for breakfast since the attack came around lunch time. I was barely halfway through my lunch with my friend when I started to feel queasy. I excused myself from the table and regurgitated half of what I ate. 20 mins later, the remainder came out.

I said my apologies to my friend and took the next bus back home. I thought that if I rest a bit back home, I will feel better. Luckily I decided to detour to the doctor just around my block. When I reached there, I was freaking glad I went to the clinic first. By then, I have developed severe cramps in my guts and I could feel another bout of vomit forcing its way out of my throat.

The doctor attending to me was very nice and was trying to ascertain what was happening to me. I helped her to confirm that I have food poisoning by grabbing the nearest plastic bag on her table and filled that up with what was left of my lunch.

She asked, medicine or needle. I have never wanted a prick in me so badly as I promptly dropped my pant. By then my had condition worsened as my head spun and threatened to shut down all consciousness. Doctor Nice ushered me into the sick bay where I laid down helpless and feeling weak and miserable. The several times I moved was only to the toilet outside. I have no idea of how to get back home in that condition.

Lee called me an hour later. I told him what happened and he came by almost immediately to pick me up. I was in semi consciousness when I reached home. I tried to drink fluid but found myself throwing up anything that I swallowed. All I could do was to just lie on bed, shivering and dehydrated. Lee constantly checked on me, making me sip enough water but not enough for me to throw up. He bought congee for me which I didn't managed to finish more than a third of it, or to keep that one third in my stomach. He tucked me in early with my medication and ensured that I was comfortable...

I woke up the next day feeling a lot better and I was able to drink fluid. But he had left for work. I shall wait for him to come back. I want to wait for that person who was there for me when I needed him the most...
